I think you should be able to train them to do other jobs - like fetch the newspaper or go to the shops.

Yeah, should have checked this before spending 40,000 on them. Stupid mercs. Why the hell are they in the game? They don't do a damn thing, why are they there?

Yes trained mercs are basically the same as ordianry soldiers of your race, only brought with naq and not needing to use uu to build
