This is rediculously complicated, so it's totally understandable if you disregard any or all of this.
First, perhaps only certain weapons can hit other weapons. For example, one could use a Death Glider and you could bring many P90s against it and probably not do much more than scratch it. Also, plastic explosives would have a lot of difficulty dealing with aircraft unless you get creative. I don't know which weapons are offensive and defensive beyond the ones available to the Tau'ri, but hopefully whoever reads this gets the point.
Also, certain weapons should be more one shot deals, like the mini-nuke. Perhaps instead of being used as a normal weapon, it costs a different amount, is one shot, and is used for the only purpose of annihilating the enemy forces.
Next, defensive and offensive weapons may be used together in battle, whether actually on offense or defense. One of the easiest examples is a Tau'ri wielding a P90 and using a flak jacket. Instead of the calculation being straight offense strength vs defense strength, it would be defensive strength would lower friendly casualties and more offensive strength would increase enemy casualties, whether on offense or defense. Also, some weapons could be combination deals, like a tank would be both offense and defense.
Finally, probably the most difficult, is stages and forms of combat. For example, one could hardly deal with the X-303 or a Ha'tak unless one had something that could actually do something to such a craft, like another ship, some sort of smaller craft that works in space (a Death Glider), or something that can target space, like an Ion Cannon or a nuke. That would be the space stage of combat. The main reason to have this is an option to not invade for money, but to cause casualties by orbital bombardment.

thats an understatement....me and my friend are coding a basic turn based game like this one only different and we appreciated all the hard work that goes into a game like this.....soooo much typing!! we have been working nearly a month and we got a ranking system..attacking and defending system and units and strengths....and we still have so much to do...this sounds like ti would be a very time consuming and difficult tho it does sound interesting....

this is a bad idea cus in RL any weapon can attack any other weapon, if i was dumb i could shoot at an X302 with my sling shot LOL the only thing i see coming from this idea is people ask for more weapons?
