The Smiths and Morrissey

Anyone like them ? I have REALLY got into them in the last year and abit. I love nearly everything that the Smiths have done and everything Morrissey has done [ apart from Meat Is Murder ] as much as I think Meat Is Murder is a good tool in his armory, I know if I listerned to it all the way through I would stop eating meat [ I know that is the point of it but I just really wanna eat meat... I like it to much to give it up lol ]

I have only ever listerned to less than a min of Meat Is Murder and then I deleted it from my PC lol.

Anyway, some of my fav songs of the Smiths and Morrissey are as follows -

This Charming man
William, It Was Really Nothing
Hand In Glove
Handsome Devil
There is a light that never go
You Have Killed Me
The Youngest Was The Most Loved
Life is a Pigsty
The Last Of The Famous International Playboys
Irish Blood, English Heart
The Queen Is Dead

I really could carry this list on all day, I am that much of a fan.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE ELSE SAY THEY LIKE THEM ASWELL ??????

I do have a soft spot for the smiths, Morrisey on his own can be, a little downbeat however....

Re: The Smiths and Morrissey

A little downbeat?

I'm in the minority of people who much prefer Morrissey's solo work to the Smiths. I like one or two of the Smiths songs, but Morriseey's "You Are The Quarry" is one of my favourite albums ever.
"I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me.."

Re: The Smiths and Morrissey

I knew you liked that album, but I didnt know you rated it that highly. Thats nice to hear.

I think Morrissey Solo work is really good, but I think the sound of the Smiths is better.

Re: The Smiths and Morrissey

bishop in a tutu and cemtary gates are a few of my faves

was dating a girl once who was living with this guy who's ex girl friend was in a car wreak and put in a coma, so to tease her i would sing "girlfriend in a coma i know, i know........."

marr's lead work was what made the smiths stand out to me. Listen to the way he does "big mouth strikes again" some very fine work.

Abit harsh with the Coma jokes lol, and I have to agree Marr is AMAZING in Big Mouth [ one of my favs ]

He is just an amazing guitarist. And Mozza is such a great singer/lyricist.

a bit harsh, yes, but the whole situation was just as strange as the song it self. a melodrama with in a melodrama. life dose often imitate art.
marr has had some solo work since the smith, but not of it comes close to his work with them. Also a great lyrical work by Morr, which i only had on a compilation some one gave me, and never learn the title, was the one about him meeting some one he admired, only to fine him less the idol he expected, ending with a lyric about "dancing my legs down to my knees" often wondered who the song was about. if it was just a song, and not a personal statement, then it's a true testament to his ability as a song writer.
If lou reed is the Grandfather of punk, then surely Morr. is the god father of the whole emo movement
