Yes it is horrible when a child goes missing and the girl's parents who were chilling at a tapas bar leaving their kids alone in the apartment when their daughter suddenly disappeared must be really feeling bad now...
We have a section for stuff like this: This and That! And that's where I am going to move this topic to now.

I really don't wish to be cruel here, and I wish that this poor girl turns up unhurt, but seriously, how many children go missing in a year? Lots. Why is there so much media attention surrounding this child? I could lose a child tomorrow, and shout and rave and eventually come up with nothing other than a snippet in the local newspaper.

I said the same thing ages ago. I think this is way over the top. Yes it is sad and I would hate to be in this situation ever, but this story makes up 505 of Sky news' time and have major sections in the press and im not even in England.
No shes not loaded.
Heres a question, How many children do you think went missing in Britain or Europe in the last 4 weeks? Id say 100's

Two poor black girls were abucted in b'ham a couple of days ago and yet somehow I fail to hear any coverage for them?
Anywho as terrible as it is, with all the global coverage of this girl I fear that whoever has taken her has by now killed her and disposed of thebody rather than get caught with her

The river tells no lies, yet standing at its shores the dishonest man still hears them

yep, kids get abducted all the time, this however happened abroad whilst the family was on holiday
and as time goes on the chances of finding her alive are getting smaller and smaller, another possibility is that she will be kept alive for a long period of time and if found will have formed a bond/relationship with her captor (Stockholm Syndrome?).

Hmm, yes. I'm not sure why the media have seized onto this particular case with such fervour. Or why the obvious negligence of her parents has been ignored.
The sad truth, as someone pointed out, is that if she wasn't dead already, the heavy media coverage will have "scared" her abductor into quickly getting rid of her.
But we can always hope for the unlikely.. hopefully this will yet have a happy ending.

I think the excessive media coverage would be fuel for the mind of someone with the mentality to abduct a small child, and would ultimately only encourage the captor further.
