When will ascensions mean anything again?

Im just wondering if anyone thinks ascensions should mean anything again cause atm a very large ascenson is nothing more then some days income for the top guys ......

Im not sure what admin ment with ascending but im sure it had to do with boosting your ascension account and people who have done bigger ascension would have bigger accounts......
It now seems the earlier you did ascension the better account you would have....
Now i know back in those times every mill was worth more then it is now but surely people should have a chance to catch up right>?

Any ideas/suggestions about this?
And please stick to the top 5 as a goal to catch up to

At the moment its more economical to buy DMU off the market than it is to ascend...for ascensions to be meaningul, then the rates would have to be as good as, or better than those on the market. I find this unlikely to happen, especally as even if the ascension rates were to change, then the market rate would just change to undercut them again...

In other news, I'm about to post an idea in Suggestions that may help with this (making resources gained through ascending main account meaningful).

ascentions to LG+1 are useful but past that they are a complete waste as buying DMU is much more economical.
