Well, it's apparently impossible to destroy motherships (I did search)http://www.stargatewars.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8730
However I would like to suggest it should be possible, after all indestructible motherships would be unrealistic, it's only 450 million to replace one, it adds a new dimension to mothership combat, and make it easier to push an opponent down the ranks in war. After all if your opponent's mothership can't be destroyed no matter what you do to it, does it not make it too easy to just move back up the mothership rankings by purchase of weapons? And will combat between motherships not just get boring if you always just lose one or two weapons? I feel they should be able to be destroyed (although it should be bloody hard to do!).

Only 450 million to buy a new one eh?
Well, there are plenty of players out there who have no idea how they are going to raise 450 million in the first place - let alone to replace a destroyed mothership!

How about if it is destroyed, you need to buy it back but the bought 'maximum levels' remain? (you just need to buy the actual weapons themselves). It would be one way to ensure that losing a mothership is not utterly devastating.
It's just the idea that currently you have space 'combat', where nobody is ever destroyed by the other side. Now that then it should happen, but the person doing it must have to really work to do it, and expend a LOT of resources to do it, like destroying someone in the top100s defence is at the moment.

Imagine a player who has just spend weeks (amybe months) saving up and planning for his mothership. He sells all or most of his weapons in order to buy it. Some top ranked player sees 450 mil out in the open and attacks just after the ship is payed for, destroying it. Not only has the player lost all his wepaons but his ship and all that time he spent planning and saving as well.
A mothership is not like a large arsenal you can buy 1 weapon at a time. The risk is the same as spy levels where you have a lot of Naqudah in the open for a short time but if you manage to pay for the ship or spy level before being attacked you get to keep it permanantly. How would you feel if after buying a spy level someone could come along and 'destroy' it?

It doesn't really matter how difficult you make it, eventually the top players will be able to do it in 1 attack, then not that long after than you don't even need to be a top player to do it.
Even with ascension the players who make up the top 100 (or 1000) are getting stronger on average. Some of us have been here long enough to remember when a covert strike strong enough to destroy a single top gun was nearly impossible. How many people do you think can do so now?

Hey, this is a suggestions thread.....I'm just trying to put forward my suggestion. Being realistic, if I'd just started the game (and so was one of these people complaining), I'd see that Motherships are something un-necassary for something of my rank, and simply wait until I was off sufficient rank and income to afford it. A lot of the people complaining seem to be people of 2500 odd rank and say 15k men, and wonder why they have insufficient resources to afford a mothership. It's like earning $1 million, and then wondering whether you'd have to pay tax. There's no need for complicated calculations/explanations, the maths are immeadiately obvious.

I HAVE AN IDEA THAT WILL SATISY EVERYONE.
You have fighter jets that are deployed from the mothership. The mothership is not destroyed but the fighter jets can be during a battle. and the fighter jets wouldn't be too dear.
that would be a good idea...after watching sg1 and seeing the death gliders it makes me wonder why none of you bright sparks came up with it first.

Blessed be those who carry out the will of Balhaar, heretics be those who do not
