Re: Pet or Slave

In my opinion it's worse being a pet, because as a slave you can revolt but as a pet you're doing it willingly or too stupid too understand.

Re: Pet or Slave

a pet serves out of a mutual love and trust.

a slave serves out of terror. Because they HAVE to.

a slave is worse.

Re: Pet or Slave

The only significant difference between a pet and a slave is that a pet is too stupid to know they are a pet.

Re: Pet or Slave

Pet is worse.

example a dog. Running arround ur house happy , suddenly the boss of the pet comes home *And dog runs towards him to say hello* hes boss is in a bad mood and kicks the dog enters the house leave him outside for a night. lol poor dog.

Slave.

Gets food , but needs to work. Rich people coming by to buy u.
name callings towards slaves. But when u come a Gladiator u can fight for ur freedom and can revolt and fight.

Anyway if u wanne see Slaves the revolts I recommend "Spartacus" I did like that move even if its a old one.

Re: Pet or Slave

Would you say humans are gods' pets?

What classifies you as a pet? I'm thinking there is a thin line of awareness difference. A slave would indicate that they oppose the actions they carry out, but carry them out anyway out of fear. In these terms, a pet (say your pet dog) only obeys your command out of fear of being rejected by the pack. Just because our methods of training are humane it does not mean that our pets are not our slaves. They just don't fulfill very useful tasks; A pet implies your a lessor species to humans however, and I like the idea of having less worries in the world. An average dog lives a pretty cruisey self indulgent life.

My choice is it's worse to be a slave, being aware of freedom and not having it would suck.

Re: Pet or Slave

it be worse to be a slave.

in the old days a pet was a show of wealth, very few pets have any use but if their expensive and pretty and a great flaunt of wealth then their worth it. Sometimes pets would have use as recreation, hunting or racing for example again simply to flaunt the owners wealth or training abilities. These days a pet is a distraction, a form of companionship, a challenge, love, the whole point is that most pets live good lives.

A slave on the other hand is usually a human taken from his own native life or even raised upon his/her masters property. A pet is a companion or a flaunt of wealth as i said, a slave is a piece of property to be used and then discarded when their usefulness is up. You cannot have a dog (usually) go and get the car washed and fill up the tank and then pick up groceries, come back and cook the food for you. A slave does and usually must do these tasks for his/her owner.

To be a slave is a life of work and the curse of knowing freedom, to be a pet is to live a life better then most others could hope for, but without knowledge or hope of freedom and utter dependence upon your owner.

the key question is, what are you using to define slave? modern day BDSM, or ancient buy or capture slave?

in the BDSM scene, a slave/master relationship is consensual and enjoyed by both, and furthermore slaves of this scene are treated as people with feelings--something that alot of masters enjoy manipulating, but as i said, its consensual and they both enjoy it(the legal kind, anyway. illigal slavery does still exist, but some slaves on that scene also find good masters. unfortunetly, its a rareity there) . on the other hand, modern day pets are bought and treated by alot of people as objects with no feelings or emotions. they're masters openly claim to own them, unless its a child or old person, you'll very rarely find someone call they're pet a friend and companion.

as for ancient times, slaves were captured and bought and treated as objects without feelings or emotions. similer to what some animals are treated like, today and back then. and pets in those times, like appy said, were signs of wealth and power--people almost worshiped pets praising them and acknowledging the wealth and power of the pets master.

it seems to me, that the roles have almost switched over the years. but as to which is better, it simply depends on the time--pets if your living in the olden days, but being a slave aint so bad on the modern BDSM scene.

~Zeke~ - for the record, a slave and a submissive are two completely different things, for those of you who know the terms--if you dont, and want more info on BDSM, i suggest you go study it. im not a public dictionary ya know :P
