This idea is thought for wars between alliances but it could be extended for other aplications. Anyway, for alliance wars it would be like this:
Alliance A and B declare war.
The leader of alliance A can use 100bil naq to creat a flag. This flag is a sign near his name "Flag in alliance A hands for xx days, xx hs, xx min" and can be taken by any member of alliance B with the following rules:
a) when an alliance get the flag there is a minimum of 2hs to keep the flag until the enemy can take it back
b) the flag can be taken with regular naq attacks and to be succesful on that task you must win both the strike vs defense attack and the mothership vs mothership attack if the defensive mothership is not exploring (I mean strike of your mothership vs defense of the other mothership).
c) Each war can have only one flag. Once created by one of the leaders the flag will be arround until the war is over
d) every alliance can have 1 flag game running at a time. It doesn't matter if they are involved in more than 1 war
What is the use of this game:
1) make wars more fun! you can go to the forum and say "the flag is mine, take it if you can" and when the defenses go down and only farming remains, you still have a reason to build a defense.
2) Give an other option to end wars. For example you can challenge your enemy to keep the flag for X time or the take it from you in less than Y hours.

besides being able to say we have the flag do we actually get anything out of it or something

My suggestion for this: Make it so when you get the flag you can give it to another member of the alliance. That way they have to hunt for who has the flag.
Make a special attack only allowed in those wars but use covert troops. It'd be like a covert war. You have to use hiding and sneaking around looking for flags.
Rough idea, I know somethings would need sorted out. What do you think though?

no it was just that. "I got the flag. come here and take it if you can" that was the idea. If you add bonuses for having a flag then ppl will abbuse and make wars with their friends just to get extra bonuses, etc.

it sound like real fun but is a diferent perspective. My idea is to show power and challenge the enemy. Youse is more like having fun finding a hidden flag, which is really cool too but in a diferent way.

WTH More crazy ways to start wars that will cost millions of units and trilions of resorces for the purpose of holding an imaginary object.
Dunno why anyone would do this unless if they are totaly bored AND have unlimited resources and army sizes.
Why cant 2 alliance leaders just play a game of tic tac toe and the one that wins gets... lets say 1 tril naq...

How about to fit it more into the game let there be a planet insteadof a flag. You can add defence to it and junk.
And have instead of days a total time the alliance holds it. That way alliances can set a set time limit for the victors to hold the flag/planet.

The planet idea I like even better. But I do not think time is a good thing, make it a number of steals within five days or so. Not all players are in the same time zone so it could make it more difficult.

the planet idea is much better... but what if both alliances get a planet and every member can upgrade it's defense and when it gets massed to 0 they lose....?

that then kinda defeats the purpose of having to capture something but its a good dea though should be brought up in a different area its not the same thing though similar would be better if u brought this up as any other suggestion
