Large game guide, needs funding

I will be making a very large game guide (which covers main and ascension and everything you can think of) which will take a long time to complete, at the same time I am also trying to get to 100mil army size by the end of the year, so i need to balance my time between the two. Basically I am looking for "funding", I will work on the game guide for a full day for 2 million uu (which is a pretty good price lol!), if i can't get any funding i will only be working on it for a few hours at night and it will not be public. I could also make it just for your distribution (I will also be able to give it to a few people like my officers). At the end of the project I will write a list of donations which helped make the game guide possible. At the moment i have written a draft outline (which doesn't display well here, some are sub categories) of what i want to include which is shown below as well as an example of what a section will look like when it is completed. It will be done in word so i can link everything together. i'll also need some volunteers that have been playing the game for a while to go over it with me and make sure all the information is correct. The estimated time for me to complete it is 1-2 weeks if i work on it full time with around 20000-40000 words, currently i have done about 1000 lol.

There will of course be many more topics (and sub topics) when i think of them over time.

1. Covert
Spying
When spying always spend all your spies BUT if you can’t see their army size and naq do not send any spies otherwise you may sustain heavy losses (ie lose 50% of your spies). If you send all your spies to recon people that you can see you will never lose any, unless you are unfortunate enough for them to be online and they increase their covert before u spy on them. To send all your spies at once you can just type 9999999999 or what ever number u want over your number of spies you have and it will send all of them. When spying to see stats such as defence, UP, number of defenders etc the higher your covert the more stats you can see, the less your covert the less stats you can see, if your covert is low compared to theirs when spying u can see almost all question marks, if your covert is much higher you will see no or very few question marks.

When you are trying to spy on planets, no matter how much higher your covert than theirs you still don’t have a better chance of spying on their planets than somebody that can only just spy on them. However, you still need the spies required to spy on the rest of their stats otherwise you may sustain heavy losses, to prevent this send all and send only to people you can see their army/naq.

Sabotage
The best time to sabotage somebody is when they have almost no covert (see “how to kill spies”). The less spies you send, the less you will lose per sabotage, this is where a high covert level comes in handy (every 2 levels your spy power doubles). A good guide of how many spies to send can be found here: http://jason.streamdown.net/calc/index.php?c=0&p=6 just go to the sabotage section and fill in the fields. If you are successful in sabotaging, you will lose 5% of your troops sent and kill some of his weapons (around 2% I think). However be careful when sabotaging because if you fail you will lose 50% of your spies. Sabotage can also be affected by covert planets, see “Covert planets”.

Other uses for spies
Spies also prevent people from spying on you, seeing your army size (they need 1/5th your covert), seeing your naq (they need 1/3rd your covert) and sabotaging you (a higher covert then you).

How to kill spies
Spies are killed by anti covert units. To kill spies you must attack with a greater level of anti covert units then they have spies. You should only attack with anti covert units if the target has no defence.

Alert level
By increasing your realm alert level, to prevent people from sabotaging you, by putting yourself on None/Low/Med/High/Critical alert level you get a 0/10/20/40/70% bonus to your spies effectiveness at preventing sabotage, it means the enemy needs to send 70% more spies, which means they take 70% more losses. Also by increasing your alert level it increases your percentage chance of seeing who did this to you.

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

are you serious :lol: you want 2mil UU for something people can ask or even find out very easy in a day. I'm persoanly offering myself as an instructor for anybody that wants to ask me anything abut SGW. In my more than 2 year long carer, i think i can cover everything you wrote, and it's a free offer :-D

lol, you can't find out everything i'll write in months, some things people will never know and will never even think of asking.

Where does one of such scale exist?

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

its been around since the beginnings of the game, and constantly being added to as new things have been coming out.

just ask around and might be able to find it.

LMAO, you make one or you don't. If you join an alliance people will teach you how to play the game. No need to pay some dude 2 million uu to write a guide when you can ask questions from basically anyone and get answers for free. **Filtered** use the newbie forum people.

Edit

I wrote a guide before because I wanted to help others. This is just a business venture for you.

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

Option 1: write a game guide for 1 week, people say "thank you", "well done" "aren't you nice?" "wow i never even thought of that". Then it gets handed around and everyone forgets and/or doesn't care who wrote it. It has happened to psi's ascension calculator (think mojo helped too), almost everyone has it, a lot with the unprotected version and a lot without even caring who made it. The "wow thank you" go to the people who he gave it to in confidence then betrayed him by handing it out like candy.

Option 2: raid and get 14million uu, make my target of 100mil army size by the end of the year people say "wow 70mil army in just over a month", "you're so crazzy!" "nice one..." and i'll always keep the uu and the big account, and nobody can take it away from me.

Option 3: make a game guide, get other people to fund it so i can still meet my goals, get "thank you", "well done" "aren't you nice?" "wow i never even thought of that" and "wow 60mil army in just over a month", "you're so crazzy!" "nice one..." and I will always get to keep the uu and there will be a game guide.

Make a game guide as big as this then vinny, you aren't helping anyone by posting negative things in my thread. This is aimed at big players who want to help smaller players or improve their own play. If i wanted a "business venture" i'd set up a "tell me ur stats, i'll tell u everything u need to know in ascension, i'll save u 100s of trillions of dmu (for big players)" and then i get return customers lol. You decided not to make one (a real one, less than 2k words isn't crap), trying to convince me not to make one isn't helping anybody is it? Go read the entire nooby forum, go read all the questions your alliance has asked each other, it won't cover as much as this guide. If this was a business venture for me, i'd go to work for just over an hour instead, hell of a lot easier. Do not post in my thread again.

You do realise that 20000 words is about 19800 more than people usually bother to read, right?

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

it's about 19950 more then most people bother to read. I doubt most the people that replied to my thread read more then the first two sentences before posting. People won't just read the whole thing in one go, they will read the sections they don't know anything about then will read the basic stuff where they may pick up little tips.

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

reminds me of deity's guide to everything. which essentially did what your guide is planning to do. catch: he gave it freely to the forum. and it served to inform many players about a lot of things in great detail, until it was removed for posting too much information about ascension in a time when ascension was considered a "privileged arena" for players.

a portion of the original Deity's guide to everything:
Deity's Guide to Everything wrote:INCOME
Naquadah Per Turn = A+B((C+(D/48)t)x40)
.............................= A+B(40C+(5D/6)t)
.............................= A+40BC+5/6BDt
................Where A = Commander Naquadah Bonus (amount of Naquadah you get off your Commander per turn. If you have no commander, this will be zero. If you have no Commander set, your income will be boosted by 10% so multiply the final amount by 1.1)
..........................B = One Minus Officer Income Rate (1 - 0.3 = 0.7 if your rate was set to 30% or 0.85 if it was 15% and so on. If you have no Officers, the percentage will be zero and B will equal 1.)
.........................C = Total Number of Untrained Units (Pretty self explanatory, just how many General Drones, Untrained Jaffa etc. that you have.)
.........................D = Unit Production + Officer Unit Production Bonus (Your UP plus the bonus you get from your Officers. Again if you have no Officers, this will just be equal to your UP.)
.........................t = Number of Turns Since Initial Conditions (Basically just how many turns since you recorded the values that your currently using in the above equation.)

Why? In response to some feedback that I have received about this post being a little hard to understand (I don’t blame you) I have put in these ‘Why?’ sections to explain how I arrived at an equation or train of thought.

.........So, the amount of Naquadah you receive per turn is comprised of three different sources of income. The first (A) is the amount of Naquadah you receive from your Commander. How much this is depends on your Commander’s (If you have one) UP, number of UU’s, the percentage of their income that they give to their Officers and how many other Officers he/she has.
.........The second (40BC) is the amount of Naquadah you get per turn due to your current amount of untrained units. 40 because that is how much a single UU produces per turn (50 for a Goa’uld or just multiply by 1.25 at the end) and this is multiplied by ‘C’, the amount of UU’s you have and then by ‘B’ which determines how much of you income goes to you and how much goes to your Officers. When you have no Officers ‘B’ is equal to 1 which means that you get the total amount of Naquadah produced, which seems logical.
.........The last (5/6BDt) is the extra Naquadah you per turn due to the new units you receive because of your unit production ‘D’. ‘D’ is divided by 48 because ‘D’ is in units per day and there are 48 turns per day. This in turn is multiplied by ‘B’ as a percentage of the income produced by your new units goes to your Officers. Again it’s multiplied by 40 as this is how much they make per turn. It is finally multiplied by ‘t’, a variable, as the total amount of extra units that you get is based on how many turns have passed. Through some algebraic manipulation, this simplifies to ‘5/6BDt’ which gives us the final equation ‘A+40BC+5/6BDt’.

Therefore Total Naquadah Over Time is:
Total Naquadah = ∫ Naquadah Per Turn
.......................= ∫ A+40BC+5/6BDt dt
.......................= At+40BCt+5/12BD(t^2)+E
..........Where E = Initial Naquadah Amount (How much Naquadah you have at the moment)

Why? Basically the same equation as above except that it has been integrated. For those of you unfamiliar with the word and process integration and its symbol ‘∫’, don’t worry, you’ll come to it in maths eventually (which may lead to many a sleepless scream-filled night at University level). Basically it’s the sum of events. a.k.a. If went driving and you were travelling at 100km/h (62miles/h for those Imperials out there), after 4 hours you would have travelled 400km. This is because Displacement (distance travelled) is the integral of Velocity (speed). The above equation is a slightly more complicated version; suffice to say that if you earn 10 Naquadah per turn, you’ll have 100 Naquadah after ten turns. But, all you need to do is put in the values to get an answer so don’t worry if your still in the dark. P.s. t^2 means t squared or t times t (txt).

E.g. Take a person with a total UP of 800 (700 plus 100 from his Officers) and 3,000,000 Naquadah to begin with. He/She also receives 535,000 Naquadah a turn from their Commander, they give 30 percent of their income to their Officers and they currently have 63,000 untrained units. They are also not Goa’uld.

Naquadah Per Turn = 535,000+40x0.7x63,000+5/6x0.7x800xt
...........................= 2,299,000+1400/3t
So 2 days after these initial conditions, they would be earning:
...........................= 2,299,000+1400/3x96
...........................= 2,343,800 Naquadah per turn.

Then the total amount of Naquadah earned over that 2 day period would be:
...........................= At+40BCt+5/12BD(t^2)+E
...........................= 535,000x96+40x0.7x63,000x96+5/12x0.7x800x(96x96)+3,000,000
...........................= 51,360,000+169,344,000+2,150,400+3,000,000
...........................= 225,854,400 Naquadah

Note: This will be slightly off due to the fact that your Commander’s Naquadah per turn will also increase. ‘A’ should actually equal your Commander’s Naquadah Per Turn but that would be a pain to calculate and if he/she had a Commander then… so, for all intensive purposes, I’d say this is close enough. Also, all Goa’uld just have to multiply the end results by 1.25.

Re: Large game guide, needs funding

First off, I will post wherever I so well choose unless ordered otherwise by the proprietor of this forum.

Secondly, Who are you to say a game guide is a real one or not? Seeing that my 737 word guide instructed individuals on the basics of game play and where to start in the first few days I feel that it was beneficial to the young players who did not have a clue as to what to do in the Universe.

Thirdly, I have contemplated making a players guide, that is more in-depth. The thing is why have someone tell you what works? There is a difference in making a guide that helps individuals get a basic grasp of how things work and holding their hand. Holding their hand takes away the fun of figuring out what works for you in this game. I bet I get more fun out of this game even at my army size then most people with larger army sizes. Who is to say that someone who has nothing but a m/s and fleets is playing the game wrong. They found their niche as vultures,pirates,rebels. Are they wrong since they don't have a 100 million army size. Or are the people who play this game as politicians who use their voice and not their size to achieve glorious feats. I find wolf359 comes to my mind when politican is said. Are people who play the game that way wrong?

There is no way that you can up with a guide that covers all aspects of play from all perspectives. What you are suggesting is not a guide but a manual for how to get a bigger army size.

Good Luck with your manual. I for one however will and will always decide to be a D.I.Y. type of guy.
