Not sure were this goes, considering the 'offical' newsletter section has been dead since july...........
Anyone intersted in reviving a SGW newsletter on a bi-weekly basis (in before REK makes a joke about the bi part of biwekly) ?

Re: SGW news letter
Those wold have to be ppl with intel and those ppl are mostly not allowed or will not give you that intel...
Hard to find reporters in SGW since ppl are mostly subjective and lack the intel to make good reports...
P.S. Short version they arent paid enough...to be specific they arent payed at all...so we get crapy reporters...
good luck with that

Re: SGW news letter
the argument could be made that Im one such reporter :p .
What SGW needs is more people not afraid of the truth, and willing to inform the c ommunity, and the rest could be gained from just reading galcol.

Re: SGW news letter
Actualy, it would mostly be a 'current events' type thing.
A summary of the weeks gal col threads, prehaps some write in questions from new players, an occasional debate on issues between 2 volunters, stuff liek that.

Re: SGW news letter
bi-weekly; twice a week, or once every two weeks?
If it's once every two weeks, I may be able to pitch in.

Re: SGW news letter
Im still deciding if I want to even do it, tbh, bi-weekly would be easiest, that said, either way whoever did it would have to keep tabs on the forum or itd wind up being the past few days events only, which would such for a report.
prehaps weekly, with indepth articles every other week, or the articles spread out, and weekly 'news' reports, updates, wars, big threads, etc etc.
EDIT:
Heres what I see as far as content.
GalGol news- those who cover this would need to read galcol daily. Not every war would be newsworthy, but big ones of course, and a random selection of others, with an occasional 1on1 conflict added in for spice.
General news- various important threads from the fourm, updates, proposed updates, and stuff like that. Occasional mod section leaks thrown into the mix on occasion, tho prehaps the mods would save us having to leak by 'declassifying' stuff on occasion, so we can know whats going on behind closed doors.
Articles- Opinion peices on updates, wars, and events, as well as general summaries, and an occasional debate thrown into the mix.
New player section- links to faq threads, as well as writein questions from new players along with answers.
Humor- Stories of foolish stuff people did and anything else from the community/game thats amusing.
In reality, all Id need is 4 or so people total, if even that many, who can do bits once every other week, prehaps a few people able to do weekly articles too. Prehaps have a few people that write most weeks, with a few people that do stuff every other week ?
Other than that, this would depend on the community being willing to send in their stories and humor.

omg tokra is back AGAIN?!
On a brighter side, im up for it, you seem to actually have an idea of what sort of content you want in it... other ideas like this have all died within a few weeks due to lack of that.

Re: SGW news letter
Well, its just common sense.
take whats happening, do a summary of it.
Add in extra content like humor and tips and Q&A for newer players.

I'd be happy to be a reporter. Or at least ramble on for a little bit about something.

Re: SGW news letter
So folks know, heres the plan.
Within the next couple of days, we'll have a private forum section for the newsletter. Well use that as a place to coordinate stuff and generaly set up how well do this.
We prolly wont release an edition for this week, next week itll depend on how many join and actualy praticipate.
My current goal is to release an edition once a week usualy, with some people contributing most weeks, some folks every other week, or as theyre able.
Heres a revised list of the various 'sections' well have (which will be revised more once we get our forum section set up and we can plan there)
Front page- The front page. Duh. itll have a mix of topics from the various other sections, and important news.
General- SGW General, and general SGW topics.
GalCol- War threads and such, 1on1 and regualr wars. We will report on smaller wars too.
SGW- Ingame news, updates, proposed updates, etc etc
New Players- Various threads from the newbieFAQ section, as well as answering questions folks send to us about the game.
Mod happenings- Mod section reports (this wont be in every issue). Leaked mod section info, as well as stuff the mods choose to release. If Jason ever gets involved in any way, stuff with him would be in this catagory. Also, the mods are going to soon start a weekly mod update, basicly theyll take turns writing it, and will do a weekly summary of the past week from the mod perspective.
Quitting- Weekly list of those who quit. With special sarcasm if they quit AND returned in the same week.
I imagine we could wind up with a few more sections, or a few less on slow weeks (or weeks were a lot of us are busy) but this isnt a regular newspapper.
Rollcall- Heres whose expressed interst so far. Copy the list and add yourself if you want to join.

Re: SGW news letter
Looking forward to it and if done well imo it should be one of the main RL-aspects of the game as in...we actually have a world of our own with famous ppl, powerful countries, life of a little person and other stuff...
IF done well again it would basically take over the part of the media and its job then would be not to become , corruptive, subjective, biased, etc...(those should be your goals imo)
