They would rebuild them with banked naq anyway in no time.

I disagree with that completely. For a start, the cost of a mothership is negligible these days, compared to when they were first introduced - even a new player should be able to buy one with little or no help within a matter of days (if not hours). On top of that - who said additional MS have to be as expensive? - you could say that the first one is the most expensive because you have to fund the research and development, and therefore subsequent ones are cheaper to build.

Given that, I fail to see how it would only help bigger players. To be honest, it is probably the bigger players that will not bother with them, because their planets are already heavily defended (at least I'd assume they would be). However - it helps a smaller player in that they would now be able to take back more than 1 planet if they had more than 1 stolen in a 24 hour period.

Remember, the idea is that only the primary MS can be sent out to steal planets, the others can't.

I agree with multiple motherships and different mosthership missions, I've suggested something similar in the past.

3+ MS

Mission settings for each MS, only 1x MS can be on each mission and missions last minimum 24 hours before they can be changed. With possible cost in Naq to change mission.

Missions like

1) Defend HW
2) Fleets defend planet 'name of planet'
3) Search for planet
4) Join strike force for attacks / Raids
5) Assign to planet conquest

Other possible mission could include

1) Search for ancient tech with a random low odds ability to find new tech advancements or ability to find tech levels you cant buy at you current ascension level.

one aditional mothership is more than enough... 4 i way too much, one defends all the planets, mostly cause it is in same solar system. 4 is a big number, too many things admins will need to do and then they will drop the idea.... :lol:

You sound like you're making it too complicated and too expensive. 4 Motherships?

If you want extra protection for the planets, give each planet an option for an orbital
station in addition to the planetary defenses. Prices will be similar to those of a MS.

Orbital station will only have the option to build hangars and fleets.

Anyone trying to take the planet must get through the defense fleets first, then the
planetary defenses.

You may transfer MS fleets to an Orbital Station or vice versa as long as there are
enough hangars to support them.

If the planet is taken, the Orbital Station is lost and the new owner must build one
themself.

@ wolf359 : then, i see no use about all that, exept add more incredible def at low price for highest players.

taking back more than one planet/day ? ---> where is the fun in wartime to make a convo to steal all planets from someone ? gone ?

wont help big players ? ---> do u think that someone like 300mil army size and uberkilling planets wont use 2 month of income to build a ship who can defend ALL they own planets ? we all know that planets are the biggest advantage that someone can have. And as it was said in update : planets give exeptionnal bonuses, they arent made to be safe from ennemy realms

That's right. They aren't safe from enemy realms. What better way to defend planets than with your best weapon? It just doesn't make sense for an MS to not defend a planet.

I think this 4 MS suggestion is about to fail.
I give my another 2 cents to do one more option (the first one), and make this more clear.

1.) We don't need any additional mothership, but...
(most conservative)
a.) Half part. NEW: Extend our good old mothership's function to defend our foundling planets with its fleet strength when at home. Some strategy, some risk. If you are raiding and send your MS to explore or sold your fleets, then no additional bonus.
Too much bonus for entire fleet strength?
Let's do it 50% then. Why: Defending your planet defenses is harder in order the enemy fleets not to destroy. If they wan't they will kamikaze. Your fleet can only decrease their number.

b.) In addition to that, we use Lore's idea to speed up hauling back process on stolen planets
with our good old MS in a more realistic way.

2.) We need 2 motherships ONLY.
-PRIMARY mothership can be selected anytime.
-GnR points are calculated from your good old (first) mothership - not primary.
-You can only obtain 1 planet / day with your PRIMARY mothership - as before, however you can steal BACK 2 planets / day from your ATTACK LOG which stolen.

Primary mothership functions:
  • Conquers 1 planet/day - as before.
  • Engages in battles the enemy mothership - as before.
  • 24 hour exploring mission - as before.
  • Cannot guard the other planets of your solar system.

Secondary mothership functions:
  • NEW: Does guarding duty around the other planets of your solar system.
  • NEW: Brings back additional 1 planet / day WHEN the primary mothership has exhausted - brought back one hijacked planet from your attack log...
  • NEW: Functions also as a BACKUP primary mothership of course, however it needs user interaction in order to be selected as primary.
  • Cannot engage enemy motherships when secondary.

3.) We need 4 motherships.
weilandsmith's original idea or something like that.

4.) No to all.

Worth a poll?
Or maybe later, if this 3rd idea fails? :(

this poll runs for a whole month. you can run 2 polls simultaneously but you'll have conflicting issues. that would make things confusing. up to you.

I really think this idea is one of the best yet. You can help defend each of your planets without the absurdness of multi MS's.

maybe remove the ability to transfer fleets around. Something of this calabier should be very expensive to maintain.

Also to itrate again the concerns of being able to take multiple planets. I feel this would work very well.

You're just playing the name game. MS, Orbital station... they're just names. What you guys are doing is replacing one existing thing (MS) with something else that does not exist (orbital station). Call it MS or Orbital station, you spend Naq. The MS is already there. Use it. If you make things too complicated, admin will ignore you.

I just don't think having 4 MS's makes much sense, orbitial spacestations do exsist. Look your idea works somewhat but again I iterate those are the two BEST ideas IMO.

I don't think the 4 MS idea is about to fail at all - and I think having 3 or 4 MS that can defend 1 planet each is a much better idea than having 2 MS, 1 of which is used as normal, and the other of which defends all planets simulataneously - because it adds an unknown element of risk in not knowing which planets are defended.

Furthermore - why are some people saying that MS can't be used in this way, or making up new names for them? Of course MS can be used in this way, if that is what a potential update is for.

Take this scenario....

- Player A sends his primary mothership into the realm of Player B to steal a planet.

- it just so happens that the planet Player A sends his ship to is guarded by one of Player B's Mother Ships. The MSs then do battle with each other first (affecting weapons, shields and fleets).

- If Player A's MS overcomes Player B's MS (much like they would in a normal attack), then A's MS can then go on to attack the planet - as normal.

- If Player B's MS has the upper hand, then Player A's MS is sent packing, and cannot attack further.

This does NOT necessarily help the big players, because first off, the bigger players will already have larger defences on their planets and therefore it is likely that only another big player will be able to make an attempt to steal those planets - with or without extra MS - and, secondly, smaller players are not likely to attack bigger players planets anyway.

Additionally - the extra MS being proposed will not be able to steal planets, but will be able to steal them back, within the requisite period, if a Players planet is stolen - again, this has benefits all equally.

And why doesn't having 4 MS make sense? I don't understand that. A Mothership simply implies it is a ship that other ships (fleets in this case) belong to! ANyone remember the series 'V'? Well, the Visitors (aliens) in that had a Mother Ship over every major city on the planet - and it was called a MS because it was the base for smaller ships (i.e. - fleets).

well if your example is that then I am diffenatly no on this becasue this will make larger players more powerful then they already are. They have more resources at their disposil then a smaller player and could boost the MS effects much faster then the smaller player can. And thus whould always win in a battle of two MS's. Frankly I don't really see much balanace at this point at all. I do think that you should be able to recapture more then one planet when you have lost them.
