Militarily no country in history has been able to successfully wage a war on two fronts against major powers and win with the sole exception of the United States. Technologically the US Military far outstrips that of any other country as well, for example we gave the UN planes that aren't even as good as the F/A 22 Raptors, so we gave the UN a plane which we do not even use.
Culturally America has next to no culture which is unfortunate because all of our culture is adopted from other cultures and mixed together so there really is no strictly American culture.
Contributions to the world however America has given the world an unprecedented amount of improvements over simply the past 30 years, the internet for example which is hailed as the greatest invention of the modern age was created by the US military in order to have an internal network and keep coordination possible.
Europe howver does deserve its due because without Europe there would be no "Old World" culture and next to no tie to history, for example when people ask me what I am, I say I am an Irish-American even though I am more than a 5th generation American, I say that because I can identify myself on being Irish because the Irish have a culture America really doesnt unless you count the incessant worship of movie stars and television shows.
The EU has a higher GDP on average than the United States but that is simply because there are many countries in the EU, alone the US is worth more than any other country in the world.
Overall I say that America is better but that doesn't mean that Europe hasn't shaped what America has become and really been the ones deciding how influential we became.

Re: UK & Europe vs USA
Semper you come up with the most vague debate topics.
its like "which is better blue or green?"
how would you define the "better" between the two
Standard of living?
Unemployment?
Security?
Health Care?
National Pride?
Personal Freedoms?
Scientific accomplishments?
The total sum of these and more?!!!!
How do you compare and contrast their importance (by which scale do you measure their weight)
This debate could go for 1000 pgs and their will still be no clear winner.
Common Semepr do a little "recherche" on how debate topics are chosen plz

lol.
If you think I chose a vague debate topic, then it only further shows the extent of your own ignorance, not my inadequacies to choose a topic.
I am fully aware of how to choose a debate topics, but I chose this one for very simple reasons. There has been many and many debates throughout the forum about which is better and they have arisen in many and varied topics. Now people have one to argue and argue to their hearts desire about which one it better. They say it is always more satisfying to be acting then doing nothing, even if the acting is not REALLY going anywhere.
At the end of the day, and ultimately, its subjective to ones opinion, which I would argue 99% of any possible series of debates are, despite how many 'facts' you have.
AND I will often make topics that can have no clear winner, because if you have not noticed thriller, most 'debates' within this forum never have a winner, whether vague OR not they are just hubs to exchange 'educated' opinions multiple times. If you want to have a debate that someone can actually win, we have rules to follow and we have judges. If there are none of those, then there cannot be a winner. I suppose someone could think they are the winner, but oh..lol thats yet another debate in itself.
So there you go. Now, if you would like to pass comment in future, please come prepared.
(this is why you dont see me debate here, I dont like to go into a battle of wit's with unarmed opponents.((There are a few who I would not appoint such an attribute to, maybe seven or eight people)) And yes, my arrogance is only equalled by hatred for just about everything. you dont need to point it out, I already know.)

This section of the forum is debate central because people debate. maybe you should learn the meaning of words.
Not that your alternative is wrong, just that the problem does not exist to begin with.In the spirit of this section though..here...
de·bate (d-bt)
v. de·bat·ed, de·bat·ing, de·bates
v.intr.
1. To consider something; deliberate.
2. To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.
3. To engage in a formal discussion or argument. See Synonyms at discuss.
4. Obsolete To fight or quarrel.
v.tr.
1. To deliberate on; consider.
2. To dispute or argue about.
3. To discuss or argue (a question, for example) formally.
4. Obsolete To fight or argue for or over.
n.
1. A discussion involving opposing points; an argument.
2. Deliberation; consideration: passed the motion with little debate.
3. A formal contest of argumentation in which two opposing teams defend and attack a given proposition.
4. Obsolete Conflict; strife.
As for what you think of me, and the fact you think you could beat me. Thats great for you lol, the feeling is very mutual, but at least I did not just go make that (points 3 lines above) mistake.
Like I said...unarmed opponents...
EDIT: I missed something. I am refuting the point that this topic is vague, because I dont think there is a main goal to this topic other then the fact people make points for the continent they love (in anything the want) to show how much they love it, and others to comeback with their own and maybe correct or counter others opinions. It is a very broad debate, but there is no specified goal other then to allow the clash of patriots on the forums to have their say. No one said that a debate has to be detailed down to the final little rule and point now did they.

Sorry, I do not accept challenges. Specially when I just ran rings around you.
But mainly because I do not have enough time to get the stuff ready for a debate. I come on here now adays to keep in touch with friends, watch this section and post the odd semperish comment here and there, hence the lack of my presence near enough everywhere else.

kma dont bring your **Filtered** head conspiracy theories here aswel. this is 'UK & Europe vs USA' not 'kma has to rant and scream nonsense somewhere'
the usa didnt start nato. if a football team won a cup one player cant say it was all him/her. team effort.
the world would be a very different place now if europe (the uk) didnt destroy itself defeating the germans. . .twice. while america joined late and tried to claim all the glory.
the us/uk worked together on the atomic bomb. what happens after the war? the usa denies uk access to the project, forcing us to do it on our own.
oh but when the russians became a threat they cant wait to welcome the uk and europe into their struggle. america is a user. it has had no ethics for the past few hundred years. is this why they have their crusade of 'good' around the world now?
america went to the moon. great achievement (no sarcasm). but what about the centuries of advancement in europe which led to the ability to go there? you cant do the last piece of a puzzle and claim it was all you.
and APADAMEK! you cant compare slavery with a ban on being gay. whole different level. and note the british empire banned slavery before the states or most other countries.
silly point, no one uses it
but i think the population size is simillar?
the 19th century was britians. the 20th americas. the 21st chinas?
the thing is, the usa is mostly from europe. thats why we are allies. shared values and the like. now europe and the usa combined pwns the world. thats something that can be agreed upon

the 19th century was britians. the 20th americas. the 21st chinas?
the thing is, the usa is mostly from europe. thats why we are allies. shared values and the like. now europe and the usa combined pwns the world. thats something that can be agreed upon

this is not nonsense, its fact and the proof is in the link but as i said in another thread, if a nuke went off you would deny it ever happened, even as you stand there dieing because of it!

you obviously dont know your history!
germanys rebuilding and modernizing of her arms industry, brand new roads and public facilities was built using AMERICAN MONEY!
even while america was in the grip of a depression money was siphoned off by the federal reserve and sent to germany via the chase manhattan bank (i believe thats the name of the bank) and the president of that bank was PRESCOTT BUSH, the grandfather of GWB.
there are many rumors surrounding prescott bush, such as he had plans to force or assassinate FDR and replace him and the government with a pro-nazi government.
anyways, his dealings with the bank and his funding of money to the enemy was discovered and he was tried and convicted of treason but was later pardoned and even went to become vice president.
i cant remember which president he was VP under but this is fact, its history, go see for yourself.
anyways, i am not denying europes contribution to science, art literature and culture, i am simply stating historical fact.

Re: UK & Europe vs USA
it doesnt matter if its fact, lies or a potato. what matters is you yet again bring your theories etc to a topic in which they do not belong. simple as.
i stand by my point. britain pretty much bankrupted itself fighting two world wars. if it had not had to defeat the germans the world would be very different now.
i know some history. it seems you know about only a few things but in detail. congratulations. and your statements about the funds to germany seem kind of pointless. germany wasnt a superpower then. it was the uks troubles which if avoided, would have changed the modern world. also, the funds given to germany would in no way have compared to the cost of two world wars.
go buy an history book and keep your theories to the conspiracy area. thanks
