For once, I think Rek has actually said something profoundly relevant: there are those on both sides of the war that will refuse to give up no matter what. The egos and the pride will stand in the way of this war ever ending.
As people have already said, this war, like every other in SGW is incapable of being won without won side or the other surrendering. I use the term war very lightly here - I think it's evident that both sides are farming themselves more than the other and the idea of massing has gone straight out of the window.
When wars get to this point they are incredibly boring; it's unsurprising to see that many have dropped out on both sides and will probably continue to do so into the future. SGW, when all is said and done, is a game and games are meant to be fun. War on SGW is fun for a week, maybe two and then it becomes tiresome - SGW becomes a chore; something to be tolerated in the hope that one day it will pay off and hey, you might get back to fun-SGW again.
The war system is also quite fundamentally flawed - why give your opponent fair warning of an impending attack? Why give your enemies the chance to break through your nox? I personally think the resolution system is also flawed - take the AR vs TC war for instance: we were statless and had absolutely nothing to lose; TC had huge defenses and lots of spies. Any such built-in war would favour AR unfairly.
So to summarise: the war is boring, and is sucking what fun remains from SGW leaving just the egotistical (I probably qualify in that category, to be perfectly honest) and the noobs posting on the forum for one side or the other.
