What bugs you with my sig?

cut and paste sigs SOME OF THE TIME i think are ok, to denote alleigence to an alliance, or awards for example in an official format....

but to me as long as cut and paste will inspire ppl to learn, then eventually step out and try new things...... i must be honest, in the last few weeks ive DEFINITELY stepped out of my comfort zone and i think im better off for it

going through a few tutes every now and again, picking up new techniques, or if its just trial and error, experimentation etc...... that is good. the tutes will lead to one area but as you get accustomed to the technique then.... yha. you get where im heading.

I guess I am one of the people who makes these "copy and paste sigs" all the time...

To those of you who ask "why?", the answer is simple. Why should I spent 3-4 hours on a sig, when the chances of the customer liking it are no higher than if I spend 20 minutes doing a simple copy/paste with a few effects.

I'm not the best sig maker out there by a long long way, but some people do like the sigs i've made them. Personally I like some of the sigs that i've made too. I dont have the time or the will to go through loads of tutorials. I have done them at times in the past. The way that I am learning to improve is through comparing my sigs to some of the other ones around that I like, and trying to get nearer the originals through trial and error. My sigs have improved a bit over the past few years, but overall its what you get out of it. I dont much out of making sigs, so I dont put loads of time into doing it.

Just to put it into perspective, here is an example of a sig I made a few months back. Took me about 15-20 mins to make.

I usually do mine in 10 mins...max 15. The more experience you have, the better your sigs will be, and the faster you'll be able to make them. I only spend an hour or more on large pieces. I wouldn't suggest spending more than 20 minutes on a sig to anybody...if it takes you an hour to make a decent sig then I'd say you need to cut your timeline in half at least, and learn to make designs faster. A really awesome sig could take longer, but for decent, I'd say spending too much time is really quite unnecessary.

well i agree and disagree. i agree in the way that a good sig shouldnt take *too* long, but if someone takes about an hour on it straight up then i'd encourage them to keep going with what theyre doing, to keep learning techniques, so they can learn over time to reduce their timeframe etc. i mean i do spend a while on sigs tweaking, making different versions..... usually the whole process will take an hour or an hour and a half, somewhere in that ballpark, but by then ive got a few different versions, and ive also been watching anime the whole time.... lol
