Well, of COURSE they don't work if a bunch of uninformed jackasses refuse to take them.. Death is preferable to coexistence with the majority of people on this planet. Then again, whereas for most, their deaths would contribute to the whole of this planet.. there are a few whose deaths would in fact hinder progress.

I tihnk we can all agree that some vaccines have been rushed into general use before they were ready and have caused harm to the populace. This has had the unfortunate effect of denting public confidence in such treatments.

However not all vaccines are bad for you and not all will cause you harm. Some have been fully tested and do indeed work as they should.

out of curiosity...why did you say "no thank you" if not for the fact they don't work?

That's what I started out saying, but that was met with ridicule because "fifteen people, including a PhDoctor" feel the vaccines are made from fetal tissue. Ridiculous lunatics.

A good reason to avoid vaccines for the time being is the Baxter event in Austria, in which case taking the vaccine might have posed a threat to wonderful eagles like you, Universe. ;p

That was a trick, Avenger put that in my post.
The unrespectful manner in which my posts are 'fixed' is utterly displeasing, and I will distance myself from this conversation.

But before I do that.. Jack, do you really think I would not make sure anyone who might object to my hypothetical shooting of SuperSaiyan would be sufficiently incapacitated to not pose a threat to me? :? How rude.

I'm not objecting to the shooting of SS, in fact I'd assist. I'm shooting you for being stupid.

You reason for shooting SS is because he refuse to get vaccinated for H1N1, you believe that this will automatically cause him to catch the virus and endanger you, by exposing you to it. However this is completely ridiculous since you have already stated your intents of being vaccinated. Therefore you would have nothing to worry about from the infected. :-$
*grin* Good, so we have some common ground to start from.

My reason for shooting SS is because in the future (distant or near), he will kill my progeny by his actions -i.e. the refusal to get vaccinated- today. I am safe. My children and their children, however, are not.
His refusal to get vaccinated for H1N1 will -in the relatively likely event of him getting the virus- allow the virus to 'live' longer, thus enabling it to mutate further, thus enabling it to in the near or distant future kill my offspring.
In essence, he or his offspring may become a roadblock between me and immortality. Roadblocks need to be removed before they sink into the asphalt.

And before the eugenicist remarks come up; mutations in the human race are fine by me, as long as they better the race. Technologically, we are unable to effectively control the genome of our children, so we have to do it the old-fashioned way.

Re: Possible Pandemic, keep an eye on this.

Well, in life, there are risks, risk zero doesn't exist (otherwise we would be thrice our count in Earth!). Vaccine or not, that will take time before it's solved. Does this vaccine even work anyway? If it's just to feel better and think you are safe...then no point to it!

And shooting your neighboor because he didn't take the vaccine, wouldn't work as a valid argument infront of justice court, might I remind that!

Yuck, 3 times our current population!? That's a disgusting notion if we keep restricting ourselves to living on this planet.

In any case.. while the actual zero-risk situation is improbable to achieve, it is the ideal goal to strive for. In situations like.. SS not getting vaccinated.. neckshots provide the perfect probable solution to a rising issue.

No I meant if there was zero risks for ages we would be 3x what we are ;)

Sorry to be silly but what is a neckshot? The vaccination way?

erm... you do know that the H1N1 virus is made up of: 2 parts human flu, 2 parts swine flu and 1 part avian flu?

how much more mutated do you think this virus (which has caused so few deaths compared to the seasonal human flu) can get? :?

Do you have any idea of the extent of the genome of any influenza-virus?
The potential mutations there are near-infinite. The potential viable mutations are -still- near-infinite. Basic genetics. Missed a Biology class, G?

You think this virus is made up of just 5 genes? Then yes, in your comical oversimplification, the mutations might be quite limited and the risk contained. Unfortunately, reality is not that simple. ](*,)
Your "parts" individually mutate as per the usual course of nature and/or the intervention of mechanic processes.
