I minimise nothing. I put this thing in perspective, which seems to be lost on your authors.
It is basic calculus, if you will. 1 human life is worth less as 2 human lives.

Everyone dies. I have experienced it with people close to me before, and while I might not respond entirely rational to that, that does not change the fact that their deaths would be insignificant. Now, if a great person were to die, the human race as a whole should mourn.. but the statistical relevance of one death, even if it is me myself, is insignificant. What can I say.. I'm a cold b!tch.

Now, it might be relevant if 5 or 6 of one family die, if only because it might suggest the vaccine interacts with certain hereditary genes. Then again, it might have been the hand of God, meant to inspire me or someone else to go into the study of improvement of genetics.. *grin*

"they" are hoarding all the natural seeds of the world and "they" stay clear of they're toxic and tainted vaccines while we go happily to get shot up with mercury, cancers, aluminium, squalene, HIV and all sorts of other deadly concoctions and also eat "they're" Monsanto GMO crap!!!

Nobody or nothing asks you or me or anyone to have a so called "rational" view on this, nothing will reward us to have it, so no point at all to have it quite honestly. It's even the contrary. If you are to say that close people death are insignificant (statistically or not, it doesn't matter), it would give you a badder image than if you said the oppposite. It's like that.

As for people's death being insignificant, we cannot know. Some people died too early and could have achieved things otherwise. Some "great people" are a damn good riddance when they go six feet under. Some people also are unknown but did interesting stuff and it's discovered after their death. And finally, the fact that people live in "social circles" counterstrikes the "insignificant" death of people from said circle, even if they "don't matter". Out of circle people will probably not care much as they didn't know them.

Sure, for the society "important people's" death is worse, but since we are most likely nobodies towards this person, it's mostly his/her circle(s) who would be the most affected, also, we aren't society by ourselves individually, but globally. If only "important people" remained, then there would be nobody to appreciate (or loath) their work . Finally, people who never cross the law, as a whole, participate in making this society better. Already one person changing "side" can be significant. Those nobodies going into killing sprees affected society on a bad way. The seeking of "being important" can turn people into goingon kill sprees just to have their names on newspapers.

Carelessness on that level is gross negligence. Then again, there's also the possibility that it was intentional. Either way, I can see why some people may find it hard to trust companies who've been charged with producing the H1N1 vaccine.
