I'm talking about alliance vs alliance. They can easily take down every member of the alliance. They just aren't willing to put the effort or time in.
Ok, let me guess that it will take 500 hits to mass these people. So that's 1500 at right? So that's 25 people. Now, we could make this 400 hits if we sab some weapons. Which would then leave 100AC hits no?

What exactly IS the main problem with perg? Is it their large stats, or taking up rankings or what. If it's rankings, then just make the G&R based only on main players and not both. If it's stats, then build some of your own, you've got army sized 5x larger then theirs, it can't be THAT hard.

AS on average is anywhere from 1/2 - 1/6 of norm. But your main contention is against people with stats, and I would argue that having stats doesn't indicate any knowledge of the game, hell I'm sure you agree that rank means nothing.

You compare it to PPT, when it is obviously completely different. Perg is there for anyone who wants to play in it. I also don't see a lot of players using it as a growth area, as I said norm is easier to grow in. If you want to argue that it's easier for players in perg to grow, then go right ahead. There's no market, you can't buy/sell (without going to norm and being obliterated). There's no massive AS to have a decent bank, so higher covert and techs are generally harder to get for players.

For the record, perg has less than 300 active players. And a vast majority of those are log in once a week players. and Maelstrom, which let's face it is whom norm takes issue with, and if maelstrom disappeared I doubt perg would keep coming up as an issue at all.

Reasons players are attracted to perg:

Little to no interest in maintaining a massive army size. It allows you to play the game with some constructive restrictions such as the 60 turn limit, and doesn't place this emphasis on having a massive reserve of miners/UU just to continue playing.

Emphasis on team play: No single player can dominate perg. The alliance actually holds the power over the individual.

NO PPT. I know I'm not the only player who always hated PPT.

On a personal note my interest in the game has been waning over the last few months, and it's got nothing to do with abuse, it's just that there hasn't been a war since maelstrom wiped out maniacs.

As a maelstrom player I'm happy to say that there are misguided members in my own alliance who are sabotaging the realm as a whole, pushing all active members to norm. Perg has been dying slowly, and I'd argue, left to it's own devices will wipe itself out in the coming months anyway. Then you can all enjoy pushing admin for having all players migrate realm anyway.

i personally have no problem with those in perg gaining rank 1
im not going to be doing it anytime soon

Says the person on the HC of the perg alliance that would be most affected by any update....it's a war based roleplaying game...hiding out in perg hardly helps with the war aspect. Lets face it your alliance wouldn't even be on page 1 if we were able to attack you

and I have no idea who you farm in perg....but farming there is VERY profitable.

@ Sarevok, I'm worried you have no clue how much effort would be required to get 25 people to co-ordinate a single attack against 1 person in perg....it's hard enough getting that sort of turn out for main!

YOU ARE ABLE TO ATTACK US. It's not permanent PPT. I'm sick to death of this argument. If we're such a threat, come to perg and do something. You dont hear maelstrom spamming the forums with this crap ranting how good they are. You have the resources, the covert, the MS, the players. There is nothing stopping you but the effort. All people want is for admin to make it so that you can mass someone without going to any effort to go get them.

THAT IS YOUR SOLE ARGUMENT. THAT IS ALWAYS THE SOLE ARGUMENT. I can't hit this guy, admin, fix it so that I can.

Try getting some perspective.

A total powercap on purg players is silly - if main can't build more when their armies can be 10 times as large then that's MAINS problem NOT purgatory's problem in stats. Build more if purg really upsets you that much.

I'm more concerned with "Defensive weapons now wear out 3x more slowly...And are also helped by realm alert."

THAT will make massing when someone is on nox and critical absolutely IMPOSSIBLE. It already takes approximately 550 turns to mass defensive weapons, and on nox and critical you get 620 successful ATs to be used against you before you phase, and then 60 ATs a turn after that against you. Therefore, assuming that there isn't anything else going on with the defensive weapons it's going to take approximately 1600 turns to mass someone who is on nox and critical.

So.... that means 620 turns in the first turn, PLUS another 16-17 turns - that's 8 HOURS to mass someone who's on nox and critical.

That is just not feasible in wars and the first strike people will AUTOMATICALLY win any war.

Then that leaves the spies untouched and all that. The point is even if I can sab - unless I can sab everything then it doesn't matter. WITH this update if I build say 10trillion defence in a war then put nox and critical on and have a lot of spies with say a lv 36 covert, unless I don't log in I can't be massed and most likely I'm not going to get sabbed. There is a point at which sabbing is not cost effective after all and while I can be AC'd through the defence, with a high covert level that's not going to be worth it for most of the game.

Disabling Realm alert lvls while the player is online and putting the phase cap higher would fix that tho...

And where does it say that that is happening Dastupy? If it does say that then could you give me details of what the increased cap is because further calculation has shown that it may take up with 35 hours to mass someone if the realm alert really kicks in at 70%.

I read the updates page on Beta but I can't find that bit so would like some help if I'm being blind :)

Ah, sorry Dastupy I thought it was in the update page and was going - where the -bleep- was that 'cos I read it for it.

Thing is though the updates read: Defensive Weapon Damage
Defensive weapons now wear out 3x more slowly...And are also helped by realm alert.
Activating realm alert can have a 10 to 70% effect on weapon degredation rate...


Now if you take that to mean 3 times as many ATs to mass then, that's 8 hours to mass someone on nox and critical BUT then with a 70% increase from realm alert that could be up to 35 hours (Math is a little vague obviously but approximates were used.)

Hence... yeah. I don't mind it costing more to mass someone, just I don't want it to be impossible.

There is an easy way to bypass nox now without having war set upon you (assuming you're in an alliance)

to your comment about main players should be able to build more then perg because they can have 10x the army.....while that argument does hold some weight, main players can't often get away with it without being massed to high hell - and that is the entire point, the perg players build the stats they do because they know the chances of being massed are little>>>None
