the only sector of our economies to have gone up are the service sectors...hence the pop saying now "a jobless recovery".

industry has been destroyed right across the board, just look at the motor city (or is it the jobless city?) as an example.

the west's industrial base has been wholesale shipped over seas which leaves us with MASSIVE trade deficits...not a good foundation for any kind of lasting recovery.

the point being, no one has a magic wand or full proof plan...but finding out what's going on and then sharing that with your family, friends and countrymen is a good start to fixing the world...wouldn't you agree?

Exactly what I said in your 'economic collapse' thread, the only jobs now are public sector ( paid by the state on ever increasing borrowed money - unsustainable ) and selling products / services from developing nations where they can be produced / supplied at fraction of the cost ( creating a ever increasing trade deficit that is draining all wealth from western/developed nations ).

Conclusion, freemarket consumer capitalism does not work. It's just as bad as every other form of government or ideology tried in the past.

Exactly what I said in your 'economic collapse' thread, the only jobs now are public sector ( paid by the state on ever increasing borrowed money - unsustainable ) and selling products / services from developing nations where they can be produced / supplied at fraction of the cost ( creating a ever increasing trade deficit that is draining all wealth from western/developed nations ).

we've discussed this sort of subject in so many threads its hard to keep track of what i've said in the past, let alone what everyone else has said lol

your conclusion is flat wrong, free-markets work and work well, the trouble is all the green movements lobbying to shut down our industries, as well as Govts subbing some industrial sectors (such as banking...AKA Fascism) while allowing other parts of industry both local and national economies to collapse. Govts allowing industry chiefs to shut down factory's and ship them overseas...i have witnessed my own industry/profession shut down and shipped overseas where labour is like 1/4 of what it is here in the UK. just recently because of all these carbon emission crap schemes the Govt is hell bent on implementing, the oldest steel mill in the UK was shut down and the factory minus the jobs was shipped to India resulting in more shut down of industrial capacity and the loss of 1700 jobs...

what's going on is nothing short of criminal.

to see proof the free-markets work, look at the economic booms which started shortly after the 1st and 2nd world wars. sadley, the powers that be had the money and built up all the industry's and then at a time of their choosing destroyed what they had built resulting in tax payers having to bail them all out...

why would the PTB build up industry and then purposefully collapse it? i here you ask, the answer can be found above, the tax payer bailed them out and thus a MASSIVE transfer of wealth took place, as well as killing of all competition...that's not fantasy, that's fact!

I think you have the cause and effect the wrong way round, yes the green stuff, and the quality of life laws like the Working Time Regulations and minimum wage do drive manufacturing and productions industries from 'developed' western nations to 'developing' Asian and South American nations where the costs will be much lower and profits higher,

BUT

The only reason they are cheaper is the freemarket, if we closed the freemarket, raised massive import taxes and transport taxes to allow for aid to the exploited workers, and repair of the environmental damage these 'developing' nations cause with their cheap production would negate the advantages of moving industry. Therefor maintaining the environmental improvements in industry and maintaining the working conditions. The products will cost more to the consumer, and will be valued more, luxuries will actually be luxuries again, not just something you buy on a whim and bin when you're bored of it.

Further more banking regulation to prevent people borrowing money they cant afford to repay to buy crap they dont need would force people to save up for luxury items, and they would think more carefully about purchases if they had to put in the effort to pay for them upfront.

None of this will happen because it's political suicide to tell people they cant have everything they want after decades of telling people they can have everything and be anything they want.
