Minimum Fleets Needed - Planet Stealing

Would like to know how the game calculates the minimum fleets a player needs to steal a given planet.

For example, is it a small rounded-off percentage of the planet's defence?

Also the minimum number of fleets needed to attack a planet without losing all fleets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks very much.

15% of planet defence Or fleets will not initiate in attack.

you need 100% of total defences to steal..

15% = minimum possible to send an attack... so that your fleets can mass the planet's defences.

15% to engaged with natural. 10% to engage if platforms. If you have less than 15% of natural you can't engage, if you have less than 10% of platforms you can. If you end up engaging one with a platform but end up not having the 10% required, your fleets will blow up. Over and you will damage the planet defenses based on how many fleets you are sending. Of note, many things in game are random %, so you don't really want to send only 15% unless you have to.

How did someone with 3b fleet power attack a 300b plat of mine a few months ago and not lose fleets?

I took a planet with a natural defense of 1111 (Def: 3,333,000,000) and after I took the planet I had destroyed 580,047 defenses. Most was platforms (obviously)
I only have 104k fleets which is 120bill in power, yet I managed to take a planet with 1.7Trill worth of defenses. In the logs I was getting devastating damage done against me, though my fleets werent dying, just high repair costs to being with.

First Hit:
Feb 13, 18:38 Attack defended 15 7,534 0 113,010,560,000 A Huge Amount
Your Fleet strength went from 115,600 to 34,542

I hit 31 times before I stopped receiving devastating damage and could see the defense when hitting. Took me 72hits in total to get the planet. So i'm not sure how this 10% / 15% rule works exactly...

Platforms are bugged that they show double losses in logs/ME. The platform(s) you destroyed were only 290k or so, about 900 bil. Well below the 10% for ~120 bil fleets, however not above 30% (hence showing devestating).
