There may not be a Govt or national ban...but does there really need to be one when you have a Govt that is so willing to kiss the backside of every big corporation/business??

This shows how little you know about the world of manual labour KMA, working in places like Oil Rigs / Power Stations / Press Forming Plants / Car Manufacturing / Mining and other such industries will see you work in places who ban all jewelery, no matter what it is as they can catch on machinery and lead to serious accidents / injuries & in some cases outright death!

That was the point i was making. sorry if i didn't make myself clear...i thought i had :smt017

If the 'paki' as you put is wearing a turban because its a documented requirement of his faith (whatever that might be), tough you'll just have to put up with it. If they are wearing a turban however simply for cultural or family reasons, they the workplace would be within their power to insist it was removed while that person was at work.

and no your point isnt clear, you suggest navy seals and underwater explosives experts, which are rather extreme. Besides in the examples i've mentioned, the policies usually include all workers for that company, ie the ones in the offices too not just the ones 'at the coal face' as it were

EDIT: Also, why on earth would a company/corporation wish to give a job or keep someone in a job who wont do what they are told, today its not abiding by the dress code, tomorrow they might decide to ignore a policy regarding safety or a policy regarding procedure that might open up the company/corporation up to legal risk

If you sign the contract, you are just going to have to accept it. ;) If you wanted to work in a non-Pakistani environment, join the BNP office.

As for the use of the term 'Paki', start using Pakistani instead, or be reported for racism. ;)

i'm also not a racist. the fact that some people shortened the name "Paki" and then spun it to use in a derogatory manor is not my fault. by the same token, i'm Greek as you know, the fact some people took cockney rhyming slag (bubble and squeak) to identify a Greek, shortened it to "bubble" and spun that in just as derogatory manor as "Paki" is also not my fault.

I used the word in it's purest form, if peeps are offended by that....

Re: Government wants to ban the wearing of the cruicifix....

i read both of the articles...

the government is not trying to ban the wearing of the cruicifix.

they are trying to allow employers to do so...

do I see a bias against christianity versus other religions?

Sure, if the claims about other faiths being allowed is true...

claims which have been rejected by lower courts...

Avenger, you are not entitled to your own facts...

what may happen years down the road,
and what is actually happening according to the article are very different things...

now I remember why I considered you outlandish and unreasonable...
often times you are.

FYI: I believe a turban is cultural symbol,
as some minority religions of the middle east also wear turbans,

ie: Sikhs, who hold love as the center of their religion.

Re: Government wants to ban the wearing of the cruicifix....

As I recall Dubby, All male Sikhs over a certain age are required to wear a turban & it even says so in their holy texts.

So it not just cultural with them, I dont know about other folks who wear turbans tho.
