Really sorry to hear about this Affy; it has been a hell of a year for you and your family!

Just finally had a chance to sit down tonight and get on the Forums for the first time in weeks. Thanks to all for the messages, and also to all who contacted me/Nan(Mrs. Affy) via Facebook. I did want to relay to all that Mrs. Affy has been released from the Inpatient long term Rehab facility and I have gotten her back home to my small rural farm I grew up on. It has been MIRACULOUS her recovery, so much so that some of the Doctors involved want to do case studies and write papers on her stroke and the recovery.

I have had the privilege to have had TWO miracles in my life, one when my daughter was born prematurely with a defective heart valve that 'miraculously' started working properly about 1 hour before they were to carve her open (I was downstairs signing the paperwork for the open heart surgery...) but my daughter has led a full life free of any effects of her heart issues (she was a three sport star at her highschool) and is a beautiful 5'11" amazonian blonde female who has never looked back since that day.

The second miracle was after I was told by one of the world's top Neurosurgeons that my wife would NEVER walk or talk in a meaningful fashion ever again, but now she walks and talks and although has some long term Rehab for many minor issues, but will be able to lead a productive and meaningful life. I sat in the same offices about 3 doors down from the room where I was signing paperwork to do open heart surgery on my daughter, to sign for the surgeries that would save my wife's life! Talk about Deja Vu...) Her sudden turn around has the DRs baffled, and, although NONE will use the 'M' word, it was a miracle nonetheless. I have had several longtime DRs and nurses tell me that in their 20/30/40 years plus of doing their job that they have only seen less than a handful of patients have the turn-around like Mrs. Affy has had after suffering so much damage.

So, once again Old Man Affy seems to lead a charmed life. But, I now am faced with the prospect of figuring out how/where/what/why I will lead my life after receiving so precious a gift. THe saying goes to whom much is given, much is expected in return, and I take that seriously as I have already led a life trying to be a good person, a charitable person, and someone who was worthy of ONE miracle. Now, I have to live up to two. It is a daunting and seemingly impossible task. All I can do is promise you all that I will try to be worthy.

Thanks to all for your kind words, I have still tried to login to my SGW servers occasionally to keep my mind sane and as always, have used my time online for a mental break. I especially enjoy my interactions with my friends all over the world!

I'm very, very glad that the skies are clearing up for you Affy, and I hope they continue to do so and stay clear and sunny for as long as possible

It goes without saying that what goes around comes around. Some things are inevitable, but you wouldn't have been in such a luck, both times, had you not deserved it, so whatever it is you're doing - do share the secret and keep up doing it, as it's working.

Hope all the bad things that have been happening to your family have now stopped, and that only the good things come forth

Bad Affy has been trolling the Q Forums... haha

Wanted to give a quick update, Mrs. Affy has been in outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy throughout the months of November, December, and January and has made huge progress! Mrs. Affy (Nan) still is unable to use her right(writing) hand much but the grip is getting better, and her weaker right leg and foot are doing much better. Unfortunately, as is normal for most stroke patients they hit a 'plateau' around 5 to 6 months post-stroke whereby about 90% of what gains/positive results they will achieve in post-stroke therapy usually come in the first 5-6 months after a stroke. Mrs. Affy has started to 'plateau' out the last few weeks, but she is back to about 80-85% of the person she was prior to the stroke.

That last 10% or so (which will make all the difference of her being able to drive a car, write, and feed herself with her right hand, and be able to fully return to a high performance career as a Certified Legal Assistant) is going to now be a MFer for her. Mrs. Affy has been a little depressed lately, as is normal with the realization that huge gains are not forthcoming any longer...
But, Bad Affy just dances around in his underwear in a not-so-sexy fashion whenever Mrs. Affy needs a little cheering up. (No, I am NOT posting any of this on FaceBook... haha )

Our life is different, we have adjusted to life after a major stroke, but, many of our friends, family, and extended family have NOT adjusted to us being UNABLE to do hardly any of the charitable services, church work, community services, and things that the 'Macks' were always counted upon for. This is hard for us to come to grips with, and harder for others who counted on us for many things including our presence, talents, and money. Oh well, sometimes Shizz happens and you have to accept it and adjust...

We are OK, and I still thank all of you who send messages and well wishes via e-mail and FB to Mrs. Affy, she reads it all and always tells me when my "crazy SGW friends" contacts her. I think she always thought my son (Cool Breeze) and I were insane when we talked about our friends all over the world. Now she knows... Thanks!!

I am hoping to spend more time on SGW games this new 2013, to try and spend more time in the Forums also. I am not promising, as I have found the last 6 months anything I promise will usually be broken as helping Mrs. Affy has become JOB NUMBER 1 for this crazy old fart.
We survived the medical issues, and if I survive the leftover Insurance deductibles and medical bills without going bankrupt or going to jail this year I will consider it a huge success!! HAHA
(Needless to say I will NOT be contributing $$ to SGW for a while... no more extra money for this silly old perve for a while! Whew... )

Sorry I have been away, I am learning about RL Priorities in a way I hope NONE of you ever have to experience! I will say that the fringe benefits are that Mrs. Affy lost about 35-40 lbs on the "Brain-clot Stroke Diet" and Fat old middle aged Affy lost about 30 lbs fretting over Mrs. Affy. I will be writing a Diet book soon, although I am CERTAIN no one will want to follow our sure fire method on how to lose weight the hard way...
