Bot question.

No automated access/macro driven game play/ interfacing with the server in any way automatically.
No multi account bot nets.

No profiting from knowledge of them.

That is very clear, and fair enough.

I have it on good authority that alliances god quest and create spread sheets of players UID's.
And further their own ends from that data set.

Is that permissible, or just not sufficient for banning everyone involved?

Or more specifically is a manually triggered but automatically gathered and processed data scrape acceptable?

Just thought I would ask before I went any further in planning one.

Re: Bot question.

Any automation of game functions (including recon) is not allowed.

Re: Bot question.

But there's no way to prove you capturing all the data on a page and tabulating it and creating a data base...

Re: Bot question.

Of course not, there is no 100% sure way of knowing unless you're standing right in front of them, it's based on good judgement ;) and how crappy the day has been for admin J or I.

Re: Bot question.

Given that it already occurs.

(manual processing to an ofline data set)

Where is the line?

not merely automated input...

A scripted data collection is out of bounds? (obviously by Juliette's answer)

Is it forbidden for players to submit raw html to a third party site?

(thanks JJ, I don't doubt that I can hide, as a guest in someone else's domain, I would rather respect the word and spirit of the law)

(sol scares me... he codes real good (would hate to distract him from real work by chasing down me hiding))

Re: Bot question.

It's basically anything that is macro'ed or automated via code that interacts with the pages. Excluding copy and paste of course :P. Even mouse clickers would be classed as a macro (or automation, depending how it's used).

Re: Bot question.

or reading again,

Juliette. I know that automated input is illegal.

It's obvious that personal scraping is permissible by virtue of it occurring and being untraceable.

Is there an existing ruling on processing data served from SQW?

If you do not use that data to create automated input, you should be able to do with it what you wish. :) (Example is Dominium Camps - works that way. User input, and it takes the figures to make graphs and cost-benefit analyses. It cannot be used to affect the game - other than by affecting the player.)

(There are rules against posting stats (current stats, linked Main-Ascended IDs) on here, but that should be all.)

Re: Bot question.

WIN!

Where am I allowed not to post current stats?

It has been suggested to me (see .sig below) that if I follow my path I'll get snotted in ascended as well as massed in SGW.

Is it a function of time? (current) or posting (public).

Re: Bot question.

The combination.
You cannot post current stats publicly (on this forum).

*grin* Yes, your path of highest resistance seems quite amusing. :P

Re: Bot question.

I am a weird contrary bastard, no lie.

Inclined to flights of fancy, getting too wasted to be eloquent.

With a tendency to express myself in song.
