This is a good idea, but it needs a little bit more work.
Heres my ideas:
You wouldnt lose skill after losing a battle, maybe moral and confidence but not skill. Remember, we learn from our mistakes! But you could lose skill from not fighting over a long period of time.
Your skill level should only go up a tiny percent, like 0.01%
Also it would be good if you could train your crew for a smaller percentage

If I clearly understant what you're suggesting:
MotherShip would have Bonus % for each battle done against other Mothership...
It would also help to have a new units call : Mothership Crew and Expert Mothership crew wish would give a % to the defense and attack bonus of your Ms.
Mothership Crew Bonus = 0,01%
Expert = 0,05%
on the other hand there could be 4 crew units 2 fot Attack and 2 for defence.
Mothership Weapon Crew Bonus = 0,01% on attack
Expert Weapon = 0,05% on attack
Mothership Defence Crew Bonus = 0,01% on defence
Expert Defence = 0,05% on defence
With the maximum of 100% that could be split between Attack and defence ...

Player B has 42 skill
56-42= 14
Player A recieves a 14% bonus to their ms offense/defense reflecting a superior crew
so.... Player A (relative noob) goes out and buys 50,000 turns.
spends all of them massing a dead account with no defense... 1 attack at a time...
Now, player B is an ASSguard, and his strategy is to have a huge defense... lets say 100 billion. He has low crew skill however because he never attacks, and is rarely attacked, because people know he has a good defense... lets say he has 10,000 skill points.
Now that player A has 100,000 skill points, he decides to buy a little biit of defense... lets say 120 million... so he attacks player B and gets a (100k-10k) 90,000% bonus...
and voila...
his 120 million strike does 108.12 billion strike and break player B's legit 100 billion defense.

well... the highest skill you can have is 100..
but that is a good point... it's unfair to certain races...
also... it's unfair to the lower races (as stated above)
higher ranked people have more turns (market trades) and farm and attack more than the people on the bottom barely scraping by. It makes the rank difference even greater...
also... it makes massing harder....

god you guys complain a lot.
I think it is a great idea, and this whole "i wont have enough attack turns" thing is rediculous, the whole idea is that your mothership gains/loses points in meaningful battles. If you want to purposely increase your MS's skill then you will just have to spend those at, otherwise don't do it. Also, i agree with everyone that it should be a fraction of a %, according how far the ranks you attack.
I really hope forum goes through with this one.
