Totally agree. It adds a new degree of pride and comradery to any alliance. The racial alliances are out there *cough* Omega System Lords*cough* The problem is most of them aren't worth a crap. I think it's because there are to many indians and not enough chiefs. Nobody wants to take charge of an alliance and lead anymore.

Yep - the EPA held out to be a Tauri/Asgard only alliance for a long time - longer than most! But eventually we realised that we were shooting ourselves in the foot by not allowing the Goa'uld and replis in.

I have seen the suggestion for an SGW Main II server. If that was to ever come into being then perhaps something such as race-only alliances could be integrated into it?

I think that the only way race only alliances really can work is if it is built into the code.

That was the idea - perhaps I could have been clearer - also you could set it up like in the show (with more races) - so you can only be allied (or have alliances) with races that are allied in the show. But, this is not a suggestion thread - so I'll copy this to the relevant topic in suggestions! - please discuss it further there if any of you want to!

i know ive been off topic lately...i totally support the idea of a new main server and a[adameks quest to run one...

I love wolfs idea about racial alliances and more like the show.

Perhaps this main server should be alot more like the show, with tok'ras, no INDU, AJNA or Tolah cos it's not in the show. Just Ascended Ancients and Ori. (perhaps no ascensions at all but after surtain goals you can get a new race but wont loose stuff like on main, just advancing)

More races, racial alliances, perhaps more about race vs. race then individuals vs. individuals.

Those are good ideas. A new server is obviously a rare opportunity to correct all the mistakes/shortfallings that have become apparent in main. Additional races is an especially good idea. If a new server were to be created I think there should be a 'custom race' feature. For Example, as a new player you recieve 25 upgrade points for your race in addition to your race bonus. These points can be used to further customize your realm. For example, if you put all 25 into UP you'd receive a 25% UP bonus. I would suggest that as the game proggresses you could earn additional upgrades. This world make for more specialized account that better reflect the players strategy.

We already have 4 servers. And main is main and it won't change. PLus that wouldn't be a Main server, but something closer to Quantum and Chaos, because of the different play style and rules. we have Q for experiments and crazy ideas and Chaos is intender for... lets face it, Chaos!

So I say no.

There are always those who have to be aggressively negative - Nobody is saying Main will change, and people know that It will not be a 'main srever' - 'Main II' is merely a working title. But it will be like Main in taht it will have greater longevity than Chaos and Quantum and, hopefully to appeal more, will limit growth to a greater extent than what Main does. The idea is not to make it the same as Main!

And that is all it is for now - an idea!

In truth, I will probably not play it as I don't play Quantum or Chaos anyway - but it is a good idea for a fresh start and to create something given the hindsight of Main.

I think it's a great idea. Mostly because I just started like a month ago and I know I'll never have a chance to compete with people that have been playing for so long.

what about make it like matrixwars, in that, humans cant attack other humans, and machines cant attack other machines.

kind of like, the entire tauri race is allied with each other, and all asgards are automatically in the asgard alliance, ori is automatically in ori alliance, etc.

Well sorry Wolf, I didn't mean to be agressively negative. Just wanted to point out what I think about this IDEA, as you put it (no offense meant)

Agreed. And also I stand 110% behind the idea that fleets are also a MUST in "normal" main.
