It could be done so that once lifers, 25% can be set free every so often, once a month for example, and if you reach over 50 mill lifers the percentage can be increase slightly so that lifers wont stop you from trading.
You can send uu to a friend while you ascend but if that friend got greedy and decided to keep them then there lost to that person because admin will stay out of it.
Admins warning!
If you make trades outside of this market, the game administration takes NO responsibility for the results. All trades outside of this market are now considered 'black market' trades, and are protected by nothing - you open yourself up to the above mentioned scams that some people work very hard to lure other players into. Please use your judgement, and - if you take a risk and try to trade outside the game - be prepared to lose everything and accept it.
So yes I like this idea alot, possibly needs a little more thought into it but I like it.
Or even do it so once made into slaves (lifers) you get 12hrs or less to change your mind and then could set them free.
The clue is in the name - 'LIFERS' - i.e. untrainable - to be able to train/untrain them as you suggest would go agianst the point of introducing them in the first place. The fact that they are untrainable was to act as a penalty of sorts for turning UU into miners (which are unraidable).
As for what you say about admins warning and a friend possibly getting greedy if you send UU prior to ascension - to be frank, that is not a valid reason for introducing training lifers - it just goes to prove that people need to pick their friends wisely - it's called trust and it is associated with risk - which is a (rapidly diminsihing) part of teh game.
