Re: To all you smokers

Yeah.. I hate smelling of smoke :( Non-smoking girls DO NOT find it cool or sexy. Fact. I wish I never started to smoke to be honest. I'm sure most here would agree
I always get comments like "you stink of smoke" "you smell like a fag" < remember that where I live fag is the slang for cigarette.
Someone who smokes 20 cigs a day can collect up to a litre of that black stuff a year. I think it's a collection of tar.
I have heard that if you stop smoking before you're 35 years old your body can reverse most of the damage over time as the body is still young and able to "clean it out".
I eat a lot of food containing anti-oxygens (i think that's how to spell it :? ) as it helps prevent some of the damage but not enough

Plus.. there's no evidence of second hand smoke harming anyone

I don;t think the first statement is totally true. The human body is fantastic in how it works to heal but you must take into account how long the person has been smoking, how many the person smokes a day, and if there are any other underlying conditions, etc.

Antioxidants :-) can help, but a lot of research with them are tied to anti aging. I don't follow journal articles really so I don't know about that. It would be better to not rely on oranges, cranberries, grapefruit, etc. as a quick fix for an unhealthy lifestyle and years of heavy smoking.

Smoking is linked to cancer, and there is no antioxidant that will cure cancer.

Most of that is hearsay Spacey (what I posted). I know you study stuff in that area so I would take your word for it.
I hate how much money I spent on smoking. It's ridiculous. I could have a nice car by now if I didn't smoke.

How are things mate?

I'm very well Vincent old friend. It's been a long time since we had a good chat. Had me one cigarette this afternoon at work out of sheer stress, first one in six days. I think the lack of nicotina is not doing me any good. How are you sir?

Smoke the good 'ol Peter Stuyvesant Filter, 20 a day.

Besides, if you wanna quit it's easy since nicotine is not addictive, it's all in the mind.

Re: To all you smokers

well, I have been smoking for 16 years, a pack a day, if this was an addiction, why does my tolerance not go up? Tis been a pack a day for 16 years. It is a well known fact that addicts to any substance built up a tolerance to the abused substance.

Secondly, if we were truly physically addicted to nicotine or tobacco, that would mean if we stopped our body would not function normally, we would need nicotine just to function normally, right? Ok, we might get irritated but we still function normally when we quit because it's not nicotine our body needs.

Also, if this was a true physical addiction to nicotine or tobacco, how can some ppl just stop smoking cold turkey? their cells would need nicotine to function normally but that is not the case.

Another thing is, patches don;t work, the gum don't work , the spray don't work, cyban don't work, if this was truly a nicotine addiction, the patch or gum or whatever would do its job supplying us with the needed flow of nicotine we are supposedly "addicted" to but that is not the case.

And lastly, all traces of nicotine leave the body completely after 5 days, some say 2, some 4, so after 5 days you should be home-free, right? but we not because our body isn't looking for nicotine.

Smoking is simply a conditioned response, not a tobacco or nicotine addiction. Change your conditioned responses and quit just like that.

Hey, when I smell coffee in the morning I gotta have that smoke. What I did is, I conditioned my mind to everytime I smell coffee, I have a glass of water and it works. So observe what triggers you to have a smoke and simply instead of having a smoke have a glass of water.

Best thing is when u start realizing how you are a slave to your self made conditioned responses, like you suddenly realising why you want to have a smoke in the first place. As soon as you realise these automatic responses, you can change them and finally truly be free and be the sole owner of your body and guardian of your health, no longer a slave to your self-made responses, like a robot, oh beer=smoke, barbeque=smoke, coffee in the morning=smoke, stress=smoke, NO, no more, decide RIGHT now you are no longer a slave and put down that packet, take control of your life and join the non-smokers.

Say aloud: I am a non-smoker, cammon...I AM A NON SMOKER, I DON"T SMOKE...I AM A NON SMOKER, Feels good, doesn't it, your whole life can feel incredible like that, you are a non smoker, you are a non smoker, you are free of cigarettes, you don't need them, you'd rather have a nice, tall glass of pure water.

Good luck pal :D

Is that right? Smoke in a room or car with my kids in it; and then you will see second hand smoke harming someone. Via me.

Re: To all you smokers

Theres a ton of evidence of second hand smoke causing harm.

Spouses living with their smoking partner their entire life, that don't smoke, often enough, get lung cancer as well.

Remember, at least in the US, smokers are a minority, and the majority, which are non smokers, mostly do not like to be around smoke.

Oi, if this post is incoherent its because I'm going to bed now.

If you ever heard of a show called "Penn and Teller Bullsh*t" watch the episode about second hand smoke. In fact.. watch the whole 5 series of that show  They even showed me the truth on a few things.

A few things that they have shown me? Well for one, recycling wastes more energy than it would to make the material from the source. That the Mexican border is a waste of money. Global warming is more or less bs

congratulations man, My grandmother smoked a pack a day for over 65 years. However she SOMEHOW did not get lung cancer and her lungs were fine until she died at age 87.

that might work.

Re: To all you smokers

I am certain that cases where a person smoked 20 packs a day and lived to a ripe old age with no major health concerns does not reflect the general trend.

Conclusions about health benefits and illnesses cannot be determined from outliers in a population. When an analysis is completed, statistical significance is determined not from a handful of rare cases, but from the overall and general trend after analysis of all points/observations.

Those pictures you see with black, wet, tarry, etc. lungs is totally true.

Smoking is not healthy.

Kids: do not start. It is not cool to have yellow teeth and smell like smoke. Additionally, it cost a lot to smoke, literally and hypothetically.

True my spacey. And one thing more:

Kids: do not use dip. It's just as bad if not worse
