Tamper Data...

I personally feel these games should talk with the designers of The Ancient Wars and also start banning those users of Tamper Data... bring some blance and fair play back into the games...

it is very hard to find out those using such software, and it is in no way cheating to use it, as it doesnt create resources... it may not be all that nice for others when people use tamper data to buy mercs, but it is for most purposes impossible to stop...

I'm pretty sure it's not. It just requires a check of data before sending it to the DB, but after the tampering. Now that's not so difficult.

that is why we said "for most purposes"... we know it is not truly impossible, but we do not think it will ever be implemented, as it doesnt do any true damage when it is allowed... implementing such check might even slow down the servers a little, and noone wants that...

I think it can be done without slowing the servers down:)

It's just a tiny check, something like

IF mercsbought >0 AND mercsbought < 1000
DO database transaction

The real server slowdown would probably be caused by the repeated refreshing of merc marketplaces.

Well... it's working great in TAW... so I can't see why it can't be implemented... if you were meant to get more of anything in one trade/purchase the admins should allow a larger number to be used...

This would go for Choas / Main / Quantum... all three can get abused by the "cheaters"... (I know it's not really cheating if it can be done - but it's for balance, so that everyone has the same features available)

it is definetly NOT needed in chaos... it would just make game worse there... and it has been discussed there, and defined ok by many players...

a possable solution would be to set a delay time between times somone is alow to buy mercs, say a 3-5 second delay between purchases. this would effectivly give everyone a better chance to get mercs.

ohh, well you could set a maximum of 999 mercs bought in 3 seconds. so if more than that are atempted to be bought the transaction is denied.
